The Gayla Mize Garden was initiated in 2011 and honors Gayla Mize, a long time supporter of Nacogdoches Beautiful, SFA Gardens, and many other civic adventures in Nacogdoches. In addition to the ADA accessible trails of the Gayla Mize Garden, the garden also provides access to unpaved mountain biking and hiking trails, the result of a 2008 National Recreational Trails Grant awarded to the Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture, as well as to SFA Campus Recreation by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
