Description:

Millions of years of history, buried just beneath your feet…

We may not have mountains and mesas in East Texas, but the stones in our forest still tell many stories of life, death, and change.

- Join Ranger Jared and our Park Superintendent Gary in exploring the stories hidden in the stones of Mission Tejas.

- Oceans fell back as mountains reached for the sky, life was frozen in time and slowly turned to stone, and countless years later humanity used resources the Earth forged here to change the world around them.

- This trip through time will include heaps of things to see and feel firsthand, as well as a short hike to one of the more visible geologic features of the park for those who wish to see the power of nature and time in person.

Meet @ the Mission. Participants should bring water, appropriate clothing/footwear for the outdoors, and a rock hound’s imagination.

*Attendance to this event is open to the public and free after regular day use or camping fees.
